Queen of Planet Hot Flash

by Barbara

It is always nice to share a good story, and this time, I found a beautiful birth story at The Queen of Planet Hot Flash.

The name of the blog might make male bloggers cringe! But fellows, throw out any ideas that you might have upon seeing the title. Da Queen is a spunky woman who knows how to take charge. Nothing stopped her from doing her duty to her daughter-in-law on a certain cold January day when the future mom started having contractions.

That baby was in a hurry to arrive and the Queen could not get to the hospital any faster!

A woman who takes her daughter-in-law, son and daughter-in-law’s mom to the hospital is normal enough. Then, while she’s driving through the scenery — “we lived in southeastern Kentucky where the roads are very curvy and there are hills and it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get anywhere. Somewhere that may take you on a straight road 20 minutes will take you 45 here” — the Queen’s daughter-in-law “really starts heavy labor.”

And it’s still 50 miles until they even get to the hospital!!

You guessed right. The birth took place before they even arrived at the hospital.

The Queen recounts the moment:

We hit a dip in the road. My daughter-in-law yells, “I can feel the head!” I was going 70, pulled the car over to the side of the road, jamming it into park without hardly touching the brakes. Doors flew open, …

That’s where I stop! You have to read this post and enjoy the story for yourself.

And while the madcap events often got me chuckling, I cheered in the end! There is something about a birth story that makes you smile. Life goes on, and seeing babies come into the world leaves you a positive feeling for the future. And it also makes you feel “warm and fuzzy” when you see a newborn child.

My Five Minutes of Fame is honored today by The Rising Blogger. Congratulations to Da Queen for receiving the Post of the Day Award!

And yes, well done for the delivery, too!
