Random Acts of Unkindness

We don’t award enough humor blogs. We’ve known this for a while, but so many humor blogs have noth­ing orig­i­nal in them. Not that the daily “this joke is going around the inter­net” joke is not funny. Many times they are, but we don’t review or award sub­ject mat­ter that is not even attempt­ing to be orig­i­nal. Recently in our attempt, we should say “our incred­i­bly long and fruit­less search” to award a humor blog, we found, honest-to-god, a blog that pub­lishes the blogger’s favorite car­toon of the day. WTF? If we wanted to read “Peanuts”, we’d open the freak­ing news­pa­per. So when we stum­bled on a truly funny blog writ­ten with plenty of sass and wit today we praised the Gods of Humor! We hollered out in pure ringlets of joy! (Okay, so that really didn’t mean much, but you get the pic­ture, that we were pleased.)

The author is a lawyer, writer and col­lege instruc­tor near Wash­ing­ton, D.C. Her name is Ello and she pens the blog Ran­dom Acts of Unkind­ness. We have spent con­sid­er­able time at the den­tist lately for a vari­ety of issues that promise to put the dentist’s first two kids through col­lege and make us suf­fer so much pain that we’d pre­fer giv­ing birth. So when we read Ello’s account of her expe­ri­ence in her post The Devil’s Den­tist we were ready to laugh. Check this part out for starters, “I have finally deci­phered his sick code. It doesn’t hurt means It’s gonna really hurt. It might hurt means You are going to cry. This will hurt means The pain is so bad it will give you diar­rhea, pos­si­bly in your pants. This is why the chair is cov­ered in plas­tic.” She is SO dead on in this post we gasped for air while laughing.

The Ris­ing Blog­ger is thrilled to have found such a hys­ter­i­cal blog and post. It is our Post of the Day and it comes with our high­est rat­ing. (Okay, so we give out awards not rat­ings. We’ll speak to Judd about this.) This lady is funny.
