KelticChaos

Today we look at a post written by a woman named Heather. She is a talented writer who speaks directly to her reader. KelticChaos is the name of her blog. In her post of February 5, 2008 she takes on men. We don’t mean a couple of individual men. We are talking about all men here.

The reason? A rather lame website “magazine” named Ask Men.com. I had never heard of this site. I read a piece about whiskey, and the author talked about the prices of scotch and Irish whiskey in 700 ML bottles. Trouble is, whiskey does not come in 700 ML bottles. The bottles are 750 ML. The object of Heather’s wrath is an article about Ask Men’s “99 Most Desirable Women”. It is an article that shows that the sites lack of knowledge is not limited to whiskey. They don’t know a thing about men and how we think either. But instead of blasting the magazine, Heather blasts men in general.

She writes, “I want to know why the women’s list is quantified with the term “desirable”, and the men’s list is based on their “manliness”. I want to point out that there are almost twice as many people in the women’s list than in the men’s list. Too many women for you to choose from? Couldn’t narrow it down a bit more? Had to double your odds? Yet another discrepancy between the two lists is that the women’s list does not contain a single woman with a less than Perfect 10 body. The Men’s list however, contains the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat?? Really? Borat is manly? Give me a flipping break.) David Chase (Sopranos), novelist Cormac McCarthy, rich guy Richard Branson, Stephen Colbert (WTF? That’s all I’m sayin’)…”

So we may happen to disagree with her, yet the post titled, What’s Wrong with the World is a terrific post. It made us think and react. And in the final analysis, isn’t that the important thing? The Rising Blogger is pleased to award Heather our Post of the Day!

She makes a good point, but I don’t think it is so uneven as she says oftentimes. I was just visiting blogs today and found a lady’s blog with pictures of Jake Gylenhall (Spelling) all buffed and wet with his shirt clinging to him. Didn’t do anything for me but I guess it does for some women. And there are the romance cover models, the male ones I mean, who don’t look much of anything like most real males. There’s plenty of exploitation to go around.

I agree, Charles. Plenty to go around and then some. It was an interesting post, however, which sparked discussion. That’s always a good thing.

Charles-
I am pretty sure from reading her post today that I will not a birthday card this year. Oh well.

Mimi-
I thought she’d appreciate my candor. I should have realized that most people don’t

Most people who win an award leave a gracious thank you. Did I miss that part?

Mimi, absolutely. I can enjoy such posts even when I think they are a bit one sided.
