the laid.back buddhist

by JHSEsq

What could a twenty-one-year-old say to stir this writer’s soul today? Sitting whimsically on the floor with a smarter-than-her-years-kinda-look, we find the author of a blog called the.laid.back.buddhist writing of powerful emotions beyond her perceived youthful element. Surprisingly, she reeled me into this story with every step through the upstairs door.

It was this phrase from her intriguing post called A Door Is A Door Is Still a Door” that caused me to follow right behind. “They are the stairs of my house for the past seven years of my life. Stairs that have been noisily stomped upon, that have caused untimely slips and have broken falls. When sneaking up to my room at 3 AM, they are creaky, old wooden stairs my experienced toes have learned to make whisper. Last night, I walked up the stairs. To the top. I saw my bedroom door, and for the life of me, could not go any further.….”
Why? What’s there? I wanted to know. I will tell you enough to say that what she found was not scary, but profoundly grownup and universally familiar. A precarious walk on creeky stairs with ups and downs and heart-stopping bumps. Would she have the courage to open the door?

Would you? While reading this post I was reminded that age is sometimes irrelevant to wisdom. The writer of this blog has learned to embrace her fears. And her loves.

Joanne, you have written The Rising Blogger’s Post of The Day. Keep putting it on the page. We will read it, as will others. Congratulations.

Good selection. Full of emotional truth.
