“How did my son get to be seventeen so soon, when it took me three eternities to reach that age? By my reckoning of time he should only be eight years old,” writes Mike Cook on his brilliantly worded blog called A Twist of Humor. An author of depth and range, we found this post today while searching for humor blogs; and while we believe after reading some of his writings that anything he set his pen to would fly, this is no humor post. Not in the usual sense.
His post called Of Sons, Time and Love became our Post of The Day long about the second paragraph Long before we even reached the ending of this teenage tale, we were hooked. During his son’s birth we meet a proud and jubilant father, on a stroll through a grassy park he meets a wise messenger and finally, by the time the years have passed through this well-written blogtale we meet a father whose grip on the good stuff in life is cemented and tethered to a little boy’s heart. In this tender post, rites of passage fall tenderly on the page.
“He trusted my words because I was his father and I was still infallible in his eyes. He did not know and would not have believed that I could not possibly know these things to be true. In truth I could barely tie my shoelaces properly let alone tell the future. I was a fraud. ” Written October 5, 2007 Of Sons, Time and Love is a great read.
We are pleased to award The Rising Blogger’s Post of the Day to A Twist of Humor. Congratulations. We hope you continue to fill the pages of your blog with excellent writing.

Great post. I have a 20 year old son so it really hit home for me.
