Eva…Still Evolving

We can all visu­al­ize our life as being a sit­com. Not all the time, mind you, but cer­tainly for some of it. Eva is the author of a blog she calls Eva…Still Evolv­ing. She is an Amer­i­can mar­ried to an Egypt­ian. So when she sees her life as a sit­com, she thinks she is “Lucy” to her husband’s “Ricky” from I Love Lucy. The post is titled Life with Ricky–Mean Mohamed. She states, “The par­al­lels go beyond the humor in liv­ing with some­one whose native lan­guage is not Eng­lish. I hap­pen to (often) be a scatter-brain like Lucy, always com­ing up with some wild scheme for adven­ture or change, and it’s been my foreign-born hus­band who has, like the Cuban Ricky Ricardo, kept me in check. Like Lucy, I am game for any­thing, Egypt­ian men are more prag­matic and cau­tious. I am often frus­trated with my husband’s cul­tural IQ.
