Mike is from Maine and is the author of a blog called Mike’s Mixed Memories. He believes his blog is just another way to record life’s events before they are forgotten memories. The Rising Blogger is saluting his post from September 19, 2007 titled A New Day Dawns. It is a story of loss and yet Mike still can be optimistic. Mike has lost some people close to him recently, “To paraphrase an old quote, ‘an old friend dying concentrates the mind wonderfully’, and the recent absence was primarily the result of my trying to absorb the reality of the sudden death of a number of longtime friends and colleagues in a very short span of time. The numbers matter not, but having felt as though I was being, in my own selfish thoughts, subjected to a daily series of body blows, I found myself, for one of the very few times in my life, unable to function properly. It was rather much like a fog had settled in my mind and was growing denser every day. Not a great description, but words are inadequate to describe the empty feeling I allowed to settle within my deepest being.” Congratulations Mike, for you have written our Post of the Day!Review written by BUD WEISER.

Hooboy. Caught me off-guard with this one. The Old Indian is but a footnote to a wonderful community of folks I’ve discovered since I started my musings a bit over a year ago. The most rewarding thing about writing the blog is checking out the blogs of the nice people who comment. I was a sometimes reader of blogs before starting my own. Now, I’ve found so many truly talented writers out there that I have to limit myself to 30 daily reads and 2-5 random reads of new blogs a day. Thanks so much. A nomination, or several, will be forthcoming. Thanks to the good folks who’ve taken the time out of their busy lives to pay me a visit.
Mike ROCKS!
