Forgetfulone

One of the great things about the staff of The Rising Blogger is that we are each drawn in different directions. We do have a great group of reviewers. I tend to steer away from anything of a religious nature. Don’t misunderstand me, I have great respect for all peoples’ beliefs, but if it overwhelms the blog I tend to tune out. I am glad that I did not pass by a blog called Forgetfulone. The author uses the name Forgetfulone as well. She is a devout Christian and her work and life is framed by her beliefs.

In her post ftom September 23, 2007 My Name Is she writes a fictional account of an experiences in her life with alcoholics. She writes in the first person of a man named Talbot. This is a powerful post, “I like to hang out on the back porch by myself and drink and think, though I would really prefer my wife to get drunk with me. She won’t. And the problem is that when I drink, I can’t stop. I drink, and drink, and drink some more. I turn the I-pod on and listen to music, and I’m having so much fun and so much time to think in my own little world that I continue to drink. Pretty soon, I’m howling at the moon, um, er, singing to the music… loudly. Trouble is, that wakes my wife who is already upstairs sleeping, and I happen to be right below her window.” This is just a terrific post that will touch you a great deal. It is our Post of the Day!

I loved this post.
It was sad but rang true on many levels. Drinking ruins families and great minds and too many relationships. That is the sad part. I admire her honesty in the telling.
Excellent choice, Judd.
