The author Desert Songbird writes her blog The Ice Box for all the right reasons. She is a passionate and totally frank writer and we imagine these qualities are just part of her nature. She is a fighter and a battler as well. Desert Songbird is a Pulmonary Hypertension patient, of this she states, “I have bad days, and I have good days. On bad days, I listen to my body and rest when I need it. On good days, I take control; I don’t let PH take control of me. As long as I have breath, I have hope, and so do my family and friends. I think the best thing a PH patient (or anyone suffering from a chronic illness) can do for themselves is listen to their bodies, respect what they hear, and take control of their lives. PH doesn’t control my life – I live my life, and it is filled with hope, faith, laughter, and love.”
The post we selected from October 3, 2007 is titled Be True to Your School. Among other poignant points she shares her feeling about the difference between a job and a vocation. She writes, “It is a rare bird who not only teaches children well, but who also loves them, respects them, connects with them, and imparts the knowledge that is required for tests as well as the knowledge that will serve them best in life.” Congratulations Desert Songbird, you have written The Rising Blogger’s Post of the Day!
