The Sacred and the Space in Between

by JHSEsq

When this post was nominated, we wanted to be careful. We have nothing against religion, however as Jimmy Buffett once sang in his song Fruitcakes, “Religion is in the hands of some crazy-ass people”. But something happened while we read the post and got to know this blog called The Sacred and the Space in Between. This blogger, Siroj Sorajjackool is involved in some extremely important and self sacrificing work. He is working incredibly hard to stop child prostitution. He writes of his work and of his blog, “My name is Siroj Sorajjakool. I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand and was priviledged to pursue my undergraduate in Singapore, my graduate degree in religion from India, and my doctorate in California. I have one son, one wife, and I believe in one God…One burden that weighs heavily on me is the issue of poverty and children who are at-risk for sex trafficking and prostitution. I hope to be able to touch some lives while I am still breathing.” His post of August 8, 2007 is titled Between Heaven and Earth: Reflection on Marriage and Family. You may not agree with all of his views. We do not. But The Rising Blogger found his writing inspired and his work so important, that we are very pleased to award Siroj’s post our Post of the Day!

I feel honored that you see worth in writings that address the issue of at-risk children and also the reflection on the issue of marital relationship. Thank you and hope that many children who are victims of this sad circumstance may find greater hope.

I am so glad to see that you have honored our friend Siroj in this way. He has done so much to help so many – I am honored to have found his blog and had him visit mine. I just wrote about his blog yesterday since it was so full of such passion about subjects close to his heart.

Thank you.

Peace.
