Our win­ner today is a woman is mar­ried to a man named Chris and writes a blog. The blog is called Mus­ings of a Phe­nom­e­nal Web­mistress. Her name is Shel and she started this blog a cou­ple of years ago when she took a posi­tion at a gro­cery store named Jewel. Her recent posts how­ever are about dis­cov­er­ing that the store was clos­ing, her last days there and her deal­ings with the Labor Depart­ment and unem­ploy­ment. The post we chose is from August 30, 2007 and titled And the raven­ing hordes descended again. The store is in its final days and Shel and her cowork­ers must deal with the “Going Out of Busi­ness Sale”. She states, “What IS it with peo­ple and dis­counts? Cer­tain items at the store are now dis­counted up to 75% off, and the raven­ing hordes descended again, but now there’s a dif­fer­ence. Regard­less of the fact that they’re get­ting the stuff cheaper than whole­sale, they’re com­plain­ing that it’s not cheap enough!?!” Con­grau­la­tions, Shel!
