Beautiful British Columbia

When we began read­ing today’s post and found out that the author’s (Heather) mother-in-law had passed away a few days before, we were pre­pared for an all too gooey and sen­ti­men­tal trib­ute. We were very wrong. The blog is Beau­ti­ful British Colum­bia and while Heather does share aspects of her life on and off water, this is no trav­el­ogue. Heather’s trib­ute to her mother-in-law is mov­ing, hon­est and frankly makes the reader sad­dened, not only for Heather’s loss, but for not hav­ing had the oppor­tu­nity to meet this amaz­ing mother-in-law named Myrt, “I met Myrt when she was 55. Kent invited me, on our first date, to attend his employ­ers ‘Corn Roast and Bar­be­cue’ and intro­duced me to prac­ti­cally every­one in the room, includ­ing ‘Myrt & Smitty’ who he ‘for­got’ to tell me were his par­ents! They were absolutely the loveli­est cou­ple, friendly and wel­com­ing and I soon real­ized who they were.” The post from August 17, 2007 and is titled The Best Mother-In-Law. It is a ter­rific read. The Ris­ing Blog­ger is hon­ored to award Heather our Post of the Day.
