When we began reading today’s post and found out that the author’s (Heather) mother-in-law had passed away a few days before, we were prepared for an all too gooey and sentimental tribute. We were very wrong. The blog is Beautiful British Columbia and while Heather does share aspects of her life on and off water, this is no travelogue. Heather’s tribute to her mother-in-law is moving, honest and frankly makes the reader saddened, not only for Heather’s loss, but for not having had the opportunity to meet this amazing mother-in-law named Myrt, “I met Myrt when she was 55. Kent invited me, on our first date, to attend his employers ‘Corn Roast and Barbecue’ and introduced me to practically everyone in the room, including ‘Myrt & Smitty’ who he ‘forgot’ to tell me were his parents! They were absolutely the loveliest couple, friendly and welcoming and I soon realized who they were.” The post from August 17, 2007 and is titled The Best Mother-In-Law. It is a terrific read.
