Sheltered Sanity

by JHSEsq

Our author today is Tattooed Mommy. Despite her name, this is not just a “mommy blog”. Rather it is an honest and direct blog that shares Tattooed Mommy’s joys and sorrows. The blog is named Sheltered Sanity. In her post of August 15, 2007, she deals with both self-esteem and self-image. It is titled My Mother’s Body: My Expose, “I have suffered greatly at the hands of low self-esteem for most of my life and when the scars of motherhood made a permanent home on my body it was a colossal blow to my already damaged self-image. Seeing a site dedicated to the bodies of mothers who aren’t airbrushed or blessed with perfect genes, and seeing that other women cover the same scars I do, well, makes the soul feel warm and fuzzy. I’m not so alone after all.” The Rising Blogger knows the importance of seeing and relating to real people with average bodies. If you are going to judge your “outward beauty” by standards set by “GQ” or “Cosmo” you will be disappointed. We are happy that this post got nominated. It is our Post of the Day. Congratulations, Ms. Tattooed Mommy.

Holy moldy guacamole! I am greatly honored to be nominated for a post of the day. It does wonders in feeding my narcissistic side! I am especially thrilled that it was for such a deep and personal post. For women especially the pains of body issues are agonizing and often leave us feeling alone and decrepit in a world inundated with absurd, not to mention damn near impossible, standards.

Many thanks on the positive nod and I will surely do my best to pass along the name of another blogger that I feel captures the essence of charismatic authenticity and wit.

This sounds like a great post. I will be checking it out soon. Thanks for highlighting Tattooed Mommy, as I would have not been familiar with the blog otherwise. Nice post.
