The Daily Spawn

by Bud Weiser on May 3, 2007

A lot of folks have written tributes and remembrances about the tragedy at Virginia Tech. As a mother of young children, Kicking N. Screaming writes both in that capacity and from the perspective of a native of Virginia.

In The Daily Spawn, we read about her realization that someday it could be her child being shot. It is part of the awful truth that we choose to ignore, both of our own mortality and, more importantly, the mortality of those whom we love.

The Art of Happiness is entitled for the Dalai Lama’s book. She states: “Were I the parent of one of those kids that were gunned down at VA Tech on Monday, or worse, the parent of the kid that did it, I’m not sure the Dalai Lama’s book would help right now. I’m not sure anything would. It’s my home state. Lots of my friends went to Va Tech, it’s such a familiar place, so the news would’ve been close to home no matter what.”

We are honored to award Kicking N. Screaming our Post of the Day Award.
