A suite of poems published April 27, 2007, at Image and Verse has captured our attention today.
Rob Kistner is a writer, poet, artist, singer, song lyricist, and contemporary furniture designer. Those amazing talents aside, he is first and foremost a man in love — with his family.
The Rising Blogger honors his unique talent for his post entitled Poems For My Family.
He introduces us to the two women who’ve captured his heart. For his wife, Kathy, he writes: “Often, when you’re away, a calm settles over me. I’m filled with a warmth, a peace …” To daughter Jennifer, who lives far away: “After all these years, she hasn’t lost the magic …”
For two sons, one living and one lost, he writes so honestly that the reader almost cringes at the stark emotions that surface and how quickly those visceral reactions appear — in all parents of children here and children suddenly gone. We won’t give those two poems away. They are just too special to spoil with even an excerpt.
Please take a moment and read Rob’s love letters to his family. We plan on making his blog a regular stop.
Need inspiration? Image and Verse is brimming with good things.
Rob, you’ve written the Post of the Day!

Thank you Judd for your words so very kind. They are humbling and appreciated.
I receive them with the responsibility to be even better at this craft to which I bend in reverence.
I write with the hope to touch others. It is gratifying to know that it happens from time to time.
…Rob
